The Rise of Christianity & Roman Society

On Friday 30th, Sept. we graded the assignments from the last time. We then took notes on the spread of Christianity and then completed an assignment on the culture/society of the Roman Empire. If you were absent, you will need to do the following to make up what you missed:

1) Please turn in your assignment from last, Cause and Effect.

2) Read Chapter 5 Section 3 - Roman Culture and Society and complete the following worksheet.

The Rise of Rome & the Punic Wars

On Tuesday 27th, Sept. we discussed the rise of Rome by looking at geography, social structure, government, and early conflicts. If you were abssent, you will need to do the following to make up what you missed:

1) Turn in your video notes from last time.

2) Read Chapter 5 Section 1 of your textbook and complete the following notes to the best of your ability. For notes you are unable to find you may copy from a  friend, but you MUST read the section to get all the context:

Test Correction & Intro to Rome

On Friday 23rd, Sept. we took time to correct our test and do pass backs for the unit we just completed. We then began our look at Rome witha  video. If you were absent, you will need to do the following to make up waht you missed:

1) If you were here for the test last time, please check Skyward for your grade. You may do test corrections as needed for the next two weeks after that whatever score you have is the score you have - including 0s!

2) If you were not here for the test and you were gone again today, you need to schedule a time to make up your test ASAP. You have five school days from your return to do so without penalty. You must also turn in your green notes sheets from the previous unit. You should have 5 of them.

3) Please come in and pick up all your pass back work from the previous unit. Do NOT throw away anything until you check your grades on Skyward. If you believe there is an error we need to take care of that ASAP and you will need to provide evidence.

4) Watch the following video clip. After you watch the clip take a piece of paper and choose three adjectives you would use to describe the Romans. For each adjective think of at least two specific examples that could be used (at least one for each adjective has to come from the video) to support your choice and explain why you chose those adjectives. Your total writing for this assignment should be at least 1/2 a page but no more than 1 page.

IMPORTANT: You only need to watch first 25 mins!!!

TEST: Midterm - Chaps 1,2, & 4

On Wednesday 21st, Sept. we took our midterm test. If you were absent, you will need to do the following to make up what you missed:

1) Turn in your assignment from last time, Alexander the Great & the Hellenistic Period.

2) Turn in your five green notes sheets from this unit and your yellow review guide.'

3) Schedule a time to come in and take your test ASAP!! You have 5 school days to do this without penalty.

Alexander the Great & Midterm Review

On Monday 19th, Sept. we finished up our study of Classical Greece by looking at Alexander the Great and the Hellenistic era. We then spent the rest of the time review for our test on Monday. If you were not here, you will need to do the following to make up what you missed:

1) Download the following assignment and read Chapter 4 Section 5 of your text and fill in four major facts you learn onto your notes sheets, paying close attention to anything that is highlighted or bolded.

Greek Philosophy

On Thursday 15th, Sept. we looked at the ways in which the Greeks tried to understand the world around them. First, we looked at the philosophers such as Socrates and Plato. Then we discussed the power of myth and how it is used to also try and understand the world. If you were absent, you will need to do the following to make up what you missed:

The Greek City States & Classical Greece

On Tuesday 13, Sept. we corrected the assignment from last time. There were notes given on the formation of the two most powerful city-states in Greece: Athens and Sparta. We then did some reading about classical Greece and the war with Persia. If you were absent, you will need to do the following to make up what you missed:
