The Vietnam War & The World Today

On Monday 23rd, May we continued our look at the Vietnam War and then did a small assignment on the World Today. If you were absent, you will need to do the following in order to make up what you missed:

1) Please watch the following video and write a 1/2 page summary that answers the following questions:

- What was the Tet Offensive?
- What happened during the Tet Offensive?
- How did Americans react to this event and why did they act that way?

IMPORTANT: You only need to watch the first 30 minutes.

2) For the World Today assignment you must select ONE of the following sections and write a 1 page summary about the important people, events, and details for that particular region of the world. You will be presenting your summary to the class next time.

IMPORTANT: You will need to use the online book or come in during MAP or after school.

- Chapter 29 Section 3 South America
- Chapter 30 Section 1 Africa

The Cold War

On Thursday 19th, May we corrected our test from last timeand then spent the day discussing the Cold War. If you were not here you will need to do the following to make up what you missed:

1) Put your name on a blank piece of papaer and title it Cold War. Watch the following video and then answer the following questions:

- What is the Cold War?
- Who was fighting and why?
- What were some of the major events?
- When and how did it end?


2) Then on the same piece of paper (you can use more if needed) define each of the following in 1-2 sentences. You will need to do this through self research or using your online textbook:

- NATO
- Warsaw Pact
- containment (Cold War)
- domino theory
- Marshall Plan
- CIA
- hydrogen bomb
- Korean War
- Cuban Missle Crisis
- Vietnam War
- Ronald Reagan
- Mikail Gorbachev

TEST: WWI, Russian Revolution, & WWII

On Tuesday 17th, May we took our test on the World Wars and the Russian Revolution. If you were absent, you will need to do the following to make up what you missed:

1) Turn in your review packet for the unit:

- 5 notes sheets
- review crossword
- study guide

2) Schedule a time to make up the test. You should do this ASAP!!

Wrap Up for WWII & Test Review

On Friday 13th, May we finished up our discussion and look at World War II. We then spent the remainder of the class working on our review for the test. If you were absent, you will need to do the following to make up what you missed:

1) Turn in your movie notes from last time.

2) Download each of the following review items and have the crosswords completed for next time. The study guide is not an assignment, but the crosswords are. Please remember that the vocabulary word bank on the study guide are the answers to the crosswords!

The Course of WWII

On Wednesday 11th, May we continued our look at WWII by discussing the course of the war and watching on video. If you were absent, you will need to do the following to make up what you missed:

1) Read Chapter 26 Section 2 (864) and complete the following assignment.

Assignment: The Course of the War

2) You can do one of two things to make up the video. On Netflix you can watch WWII in HD: Glory and Guts and write a 1 page summary of what you learned. You only need to watch the first 30 mins of the episode.

OR

OR

You can do some self research on the Battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa and write a 1 page summary of what you learned.

The Road to War

On Monday 9th, May we finished up our assignment from alst time and I gave notes on Europe during the 1930s. We then watch a video about the beginnings of WWII. If you were absent, you will need to do the followign to make up what you missed:

1) Turn in your assignment from last time (however, you will need to finish the backside as well), Chapter 24 Section1 - The Futile Search for Stability.

2) Read Chapter 24 Sec 2 and complete the following assignments.

Chapter 24 Section 2 - The Rise of Dictatorial Regimes

3) Watch the first 25 minutes of the video (up through and including the attack on Pearl Harbor) and then write a minimum 1/2 page summary about what you learned about the very earliest stages of the war.
