Early Humans and the Neolithic Revolution

On Monday 29th, Aug. we discussed the rise of humans and the development of civilizations. The information presented was presented as a theory that is generally accepted by anthropologists and archaeologists. We discussed the development of humans and how agriculture led to the beginnings of human civilization. Students took notes on this information and then we completed an assignment identifying the six characteristics of civilization and then compared those characteristics to modern American society.

1) First, we checked out textbooks. You need to come in as quickly as possible to get your textbook.

IMPORTANT: We also have access to our textbook electronically. In order to view the textbook online you will to go to the following website www.glencoe.com/ose/

However, I have been asked to not share the code publicly, so you will need to come see me for the code. Alternately, you could email me for the code.

2) Second, we watched a small video on the Neolithic Agricultural Revolution. Please watch the small video and take at least ten notes on things you learn that are important to understand about the shift from hunting and gathering to farming. (You could do this on the note sheet you need to print out below.)

Video: Crash Course - Agricultural Revolution

3) Third, please print out the following notes sheet and assignment. You will need to copy the notes from a friend in the class and then use the regular or electronic textbook to complete the assignment.

If you have ANY issues, please come see me. Thanks.
