Research Projects

On Thursday 28th, Feb. and Monday 4th, Mar. we began a research project using the internet and Google Apps to create reports and presentations. In order to do this it may be necessary for you to come in a speak with me if you were absent in order to set up SHARED DOCUMENTS; however, you will find all the material below and you can do as much as you can. If you were absent, you must do the following to make up what you missed:

IMPORTANT! You will need to come see me for #2!!!

1) Access your district Google Apps account by following steps 3 and 4 in the instructions.

2) Come see me about setting up shared documents and to receive a topic for your project.

3) Read through the Project Instructions so you have a general idea of what you are going to be doing.

The Rise of Absolutism

On Monday 25th, Feb. we looked at the rise of Absolutism as a response to the problems facing Europe during the 1500s and 1600s. If you were absent, you will need to do the following to make up what you missed:

1) Read Chapter 14 Sec 2 And complete the notes sheet.

Substitute Work

On  Thursday 21st, Feb. I was absent at a conference and so there was a substitute. We spent the time working on our anti-discrimination and anti bullying posters that are described on the third page of the packet you received last time. If you were absent, you will need to do the following to make up what you missed:

1) Create TWO posters following the instructions on the packet.

Wars of Religion and Discrimination Today

On Tuesday 19th, Feb. we looked at the Wars of Religion that occurred in Europe during the 1500s. We then attempted to relate what was happening then with what happens in the Untied States today. We discussed discrimination, bullying, and judging others who are perceived as different from us. After our discussion we looked at a couple of videos that illustrate this concept.

If you were absent you will need to do the following:

1) Read Chapter 14 Section 1 and fill in the notes as much as possible. For notes you can not find, you may copy from a friend.

2) Download the packet and answer the first six questions on your own:

3) Then watch the two video clips and afterwards answer the questions about each one in the packet.

Protestant Reformation

On Thursday 14th, Feb. we looked at the Protest Reformation in depth. If you were absent, you will need to do the following to make up what you missed.

1) Please read Chapter 12 Sections 3 & 4 and complete the assessment section at the end of each section.

The Renaissance

On Tuesday 12th, Feb. we began our unit on the Renaissance and Reformation. If you were absent, you will need to do the following to make up what you missed:

1) Read Chapter 12 Sec 1 & 2 and fill out the notes sheet:

2) Research the artist Michelangelo and write a 1 page paper about his life and achievements.

3) Read Chapter 12 Sec 3 & 4 and make a vocabulary list of all the terms highlighted in yellow. Write the word and their definition down.

Test Review

On Wednesday 6th, Feb. we corrected our assignment from last time and then spent the class period reviewing for our test. If you were absent, you will need to do the following to make up what you missed:

1) Download the study guide if you have not already done so.

2) Download the review crossword and complete using study guide and notes, along with text.

The Black Death and Hundred Years' War

On Monday 4th, February we looked at the Black Death and Hundred Years' War. I also passed out the study guide for the test on Friday. If you were absent you will need to do the following to make up what you missed:

1) Doing your own research write a one page paper on the Black Death. Be sure to describe what it was, how it started and spread, and what the impact was on European society. Also describe how the people at the time responded to it.

2) Read pages 356 - 359 of your text and complete the following worksheet.
