The Creation of an Arab Empire & The Early Islamic Dynasties

On Monday 30th, Nov. we continued our look at early ISlam and the beginnings of the Islamic Empires. If you were absent, you will need to do the following to make up what you missed:

1) Turn in your movie notes from last time about Muhammad and the Beginnings of Islam.

2) Read the first part of Chap 6 Section 2 - pages 192-194 and complete the assignment.

3) Read the remainder of Chap 6 Sec 2 and fill in the notes sheet. It is important for you to read the section so you understand the main ideas; however, you may copy notes from a friend, for any notes you can not find.

Intro to Islam

On Monday 23rd, Nov. we corrected our quiz from las ttime and then began our next unit. If you were absent, you will need to do the following to make up what you missed:

1) Come check with me or Skyward to see your quiz score.

2) Watch the following video and complete the notes following the instructions. YOU ONLY NEED TO WATCH THE FIRST 20:00 MINUTES!

As you watch the video take notes that answer the following three questions (10 notes per questions):
- Who was Muhammad? What kind of man was he?
- Who were the Bedouin and whatwas their culture/history/religion?
- What are some fo the teachings of Muhammad and Islam?

Review and Quiz Chapter 3

On Thursday 19th, Nov. we spent the day going over the assignment on Chinese philosophies from last time and then we worked on a review and then took a small quiz. If you were absent, you will need to do the following things to make up what you missed:

1) Please turn in your assignment from last time, Chinese Philosophies.

2) Download and study the following review guide. It is not an assignment; however, if you know this you know the quiz.

3) Schedule a time to make up the quiz ASAP. The best times are either during MAP class or after school.

Early Chinese Dynasties & Chinese Philosophies

On Tuesday 17th, Nov. we began our study of the early Chinese dynasties. If you were absent, you will need to do the following to make up what you missed:

1) Turn in your assignment from last time, Early Empires in India.

2) Read pages 86-90 for the Shang and Zhou dynasties and then pages 94-96 for the Qin dynasty. Complete the notes below, you may copy from a friend for notes you can not find. You MUST, however, read the pages so you have all the information.

The Early Empires of India and China

On Wednesday 11th, Nov. we looked at the early empires of India and China. We talked specifically about the Mauryan, Kushan, and Gupta empires of India and the Shang, Zhou, and Qin of China. If you were absent, you will need to do the following to make up what you missed:

1) Download the following assignment and Read Chapter 3 Section 2 and complete it by using full and complete sentences to answer each question.

2) Download the following notes and read Chapter 3 Sections 3 & 4 (Just pages 86-90 in section 3 the two red headings Shang Dynasty and Zhou Dynasty. Also, pages 94-96 in section 4 the red heading Qin Dynasty.)

Religions of India & Substitute Work

On Monday 9th, Nov. Iw as out with an illness. If you were absent, please come see me for the substitute work. If you are in Mr. Butterfield's class please see him for what you did.

Overview of Chapter 3 & The Physical Geography of India/China

On Thursday 5th, Nov. we turned in our notes that we took on the video from last time and then we spent some time overviewing the chapter we are about to study. When we finished with that, we worked on an assignment on physical geography for both india and China. If you were absent, you will need to do the following to make up what you missed:

1) Turn in your video notes from last time. Please put the total # of notes you were able to get at the top of your paper and circle it.

2) Download the following notes and then copy froma  frined. The notes we took were not something that can be specifically read in the book.

TEST UNIT #2: Chapters 5, 9, & 10

On Tuesday 3rd, November we spent a little time reviewing and then took out test. We then corrected it and afterward watched a video to introduce our next unit on India, China, and Islam. If you were absent, you will need to do the following to make up what you missed:

1) Turn in your study guide (actually NOT an assignment), your pink review crossword, and your 8 green notes sheet. This is all part of your review packet.

2) Schedule a time to come in and make up your test. During MAP or after school is preferable.

3) Watch the following video for approximately the first 25 mins. Then write a minimum 1/2 page to 1 page sumamry about what you learned from the video. Pretend you need to explain the main concepts to someonw who ahs not seen the video.
