On Wednesday 8th, Jan and Thursday 9th, Jan. we looked at the Byzantine empire briefly and the Crusades that were launched by European Christians against the Muslims. We discussed the impact of hatred and desire for power and how it often times creates problems for us. We also looked at modern manifestations of anti-Muslim feeling in the US today. If you were absent, you will need to do the following to make up what you missed:
1) Watch the following clip and write a 1/2 page response expressing your thoughts about what you saw. You will write another 1/2 page response to how you feel this clip is connected to the assignment.

2) Read Chapter 9 Section 4 of your text and complete the following assignment:
Assignment: Byzantine Empire and the Crusades
3) After completing the assignment, write at least a paragraph response as to any possible connections you see between then and now. This will attempt to make up for the class discussion.
